The indigenous people of the Lahu tribe span across the nations of Thailand, Burma, Laos, Vietnam and China. Traditionally known as a hunter-warrior society, the Lahu people are now finding themselves in a battle to hold onto their culture in this radically changing time of modernization. With many younger generations wishing to seek out a more modern life in cities and other urban areas, villages are now posed with the difficult choice of either trying to preserve their culture by remaining isolated, or to opening up to foreigners in order to raise their financial livelihoods while keeping their culture alive through means of globalization.
